Interlude for Millay
Found branches, vines, stalks, reed, living willows and meadow plants.
approximately 18 feet in diameter and approximately 10 feet high plus elements in nearby lattice fence 2023

In 2023, I was invited to create a sculpture on the grounds of Millay Arts in celebration of their 50th anniversary. Over a period of five months, I worked on and off in a meadow at Millay to create this piece. It has been and will continue to be a collaboration between growing things, dying things and me in the middle weaving it all together in an ever-changing composition. Interlude for Millay was made for the Millay residents and is an invitation to step inside, have a seat and pause between the focused, solitary nature of studio time and communal gatherings at the residency.

Shown here are photos from Summer and Autumn. Additional photos will be posted as the seasons change. Not shown, snakes, birds, wind, bees, flies, ticks, sunshine and rain.

Special thanks to Millay Arts, Gerry Seidman, and to the aliveness that surrounded me every moment that I worked on this piece.
